Summary of Job Duties
SJCH is a values-based organization that acknowledges the American Nurses Association Standards of Clinical Nursing Practice, ANA Code of Ethics for Nurses, and AACN Synergy Model as it’s framework of professional nursing practice. The goal of nursing care is to ensure safe passage with optimal outcomes across the lifespan. 'The art of nursing is based on a framework of caring and respect for human dignity' (ANA, 2004) The Clinical Educator at all levels of experience will follow the recommendations of the National Nurses in Staff Development Organization scope of practice as a framework for providing education and training. The Clinical Educator is responsible for supervising, delegating, developing, implementing and directing educational activities for personnel in collaboration with department directors, managers and preceptors. The Clinical Educator II provides ongoing educational support to new and existing hospital employees and assists department directors in assessing staff learning needs and developing unit-based educational opportunities. Assists in developing and validating competent performance of staff skills on the clinical unit. Researches evidence based practice to develop and update nursing training modules as indicated.
Qualifications & Requirements
Ability to self-teach use of new equipment for purposes of educating staff
ACLS and/or BLS instructor certification
Baccalaureate Degree of Nursing (Required)
Communicates and works effectively with people
Current California RN license
Demonstrated ability to develop education and training experiences for clinical staff
Demonstrates leadership skills
Exhibits knowledge of adult principles of learning
Graduate of an accredited school of nursing
Minimum of three years experience as an RN in an acute care clinical setting
