Act as a Clinical Consultant for Provider/Client Facility interactions and initiatives. Assist clients and physicians with all department issues, clinical practice issues, Risk Management/Performance Improvement activities, with a primary focus on improvements in patient throughout processes and satisfaction scores.

Assist clients and physicians with all department issues, clinical practice issues, Risk Management/Performance Improvement activities, with a primary focus on improvements in patient throughout processes and satisfaction scores.
  • Must function as a Clinical Consultant and Liaison between Providers, Client, SG and ED Department team at Lafayette General Medical Center.
  • Must be familiar with clinical practice issues of Physicians, MLP’s and Nursing.
  • Assist with compliance with current Standards and Competency issues
  • Assist with JCAHO assessment and preparation
  • Act as a consultant with current issues such as: Nurse staffing, triage, patient flow, through put times, fast tracks and any other types of alternatives to acute care areas such as: Observation units, admit units and chest pain centers
  • Assist with triage development
  • Assist with Policy / Procedure development and reviews
  • Assist with patient relations, complaint resolution and satisfaction innovations
  • Assist with the adherence to EMTALA requirements, transfer interventions, and complying with CMS regulations
  • Assist clients with any special projects, redesigns or flow problems
  • Assist with orienting new Providers in conjunction with Medical Director, if Clinical Operations Liaison is available.
  • Assist with and prepare studies, reports and correspondence as requested.
  • Monitor and maintain records as necessary
  • Monitor all Facility and SG Metrics specific to Client Facility, participate in variance action planning.
  • Submit to RMO/RVP monthly reports on Metrics, operational Report for Client facility and Incentive benchmarks. This can be delegated to Practice Coordinator if necessary.
  • Orient providers on the use of T-Sheets/EMR, if Medical Director or assignee is not available.
  • Promote and facilitate good Provider documentation.
  • Assist clients to promote coordination, standardization and continuity of Performance Improvement/Risk Management programs
  • Keep current on Performance Improvement / Risk Management activities and standards for the industry
  • Assist clients with clinical indicator process, core measures and interventions
  • Must be involved with documentation initiatives
  • Assist RMO/RVP to follow RVU data with Physicians and MLP Providers
  • If Medical Director is unavailable or requires assistance, COL will review charts, and follow up on documentation deficiencies
  • Report any occurrences of unexpected outcomes to RMO and Risk Management
  • Use Performance Improvement / Risk Management activities and the results of these activities to contribute to newsletters, evaluations and screening process
  • Assist in preparation of Quality Review
  • Be available to assist with or conduct educational opportunities for clients
  • Develop and maintain excellent working relationships with all clients, physicians and Nursing Staff
  • Assist RMO/RVP and Medical Directors (and others as necessitated by the conflict)in conflict resolution at client locations
  • Personally interface with mid-levels and physicians in ER and any staff physicians regularly
  • Conduct and assist with operational assessments
  • Facilitate in conjunction with Medical Director, RMO, RVP initiatives/programs at the facility.
  • Will provide primary supervision of MLP’s relative to employee relationship with entity (Schumacher Management Services (SMS)) and coordinate with Medical Director, RMO (or designee) evaluation and overview of clinical practice of MLP.
  • Complete annual performance review for MLP in conjunction with Medical Director, RMO (or designee).
  • Assist with regional team in completion and receipt of Collaborative Agreements as required by client facilities.
  • Assist in recruitment, credentialing and scheduling of physicians and MLP
  • Strategic Planning (Client Facility and Regional)

  • Help with development of hospital specific physician orientation packets

Educational Qualifications
  • Nurse Practitioner– graduated from a qualified program, possess an active license and be in good standing with State Board of Nursing.

Previous Experience
  • 3-5 years experience as a Nurse Practitioner in Emergency Department Clinical Operations
  • Must have administrative and/or management experience in Emergency Department
