JOB SUMMARY:
The Clinical Specialist for Hill-Rom Respiratory Care is responsible for initial communication to the patient to explain the ordered product and the coordination of documentation for reimbursement using clinical experience to evaluate patient, payer, and diagnosis information. Additionally, they provide clinical management by answering patient directed clinical questions related to the product.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

Contact patients for insurance and demographic information

·

Interview patients to gather insurance and medical history which will in turn be used to prepare a statement of medical necessity to justify use of the Vest

·

Make clinical judgments based on information received in the patient interview

·

Gather background information if a statement of medical necessity is required by payer

·

Accurately document events and communications in a timely manner

·

Call to obtain pertinent 30 Day Vest Trial clinical outcomes from patients to provide to prescribing health care teams and third party payers

·

Utilize Outcome information to create a status report for prescribers of Trial referrals (Trial Outcomes Forms)

·

Receive calls to answer patients’ therapy questions related to the Vest product and implement corrective suggestions, as needed

·

Act as clinical liaison to internal and external customers

·

Facilitate return of Vest device when patient no longer demonstrates benefit from therapy

·

Provide backup training via telephone to patients as needed

·

Track outstanding TCR(Terms, Condition & Responsibility) and ABN(Authorization of Benefits Notification) forms

·

Troubleshoot device operations issues to ensure patient receives optimal greatment from their prescribed therapy

·

Communicate patient information to field staff, when pertinent

·

Perform other duties and projects as assigned

Qualifications

EDUCATION AND/OR EXPERIENCE:
·

Respiratory Therapist, LPN, or RN preferred (licensed professionals will be expected to maintain state licensure)

·

1-3 years of clinical pulmonary experience in a hospital, healthcare, or homecare setting preferred

·

High level of reasoning ability in order to successfully resolve a variety of patient, clinical and business issues

·

Strong critical thinking and problem solving skills

·

Exceptional written, verbal and interpersonal communications and presentation skills

·

Detail orientation

·

Proficiency in Microsoft Office Software

·

Third Party payer experience preferred

·

Experience with JD Edwards and ImageNow preferred
