Parsons’ Prevention Program offers clinical and case management services to families with children ages 0-18 who are at risk of foster care placement or who are already in placement with the need for reunification or alternative permanency planning. The goals of the program are to prevent placement, shorten lengths of stay for those children already in placement, and ensure a permanency plan is in place for all children at the time of discharge.
This position is part time (about 20 hours per week) and will carry a case load of families with children who are enrolled at Child Program at 125 Bigelow Ave in Schenectady. Average caseload will be 6 familes.
Participate in in-service training to develop diagnostic skills and therapeutic methods of intervention for individuals and families.
Participate in program meetings and clinical services.
To make use of supervision and consultation.
Follow agency policies, procedures and structures.
Participate in supervision and ongoing work performance evaluation.
Assess individual(s) and family(s) appropriate to the position.
Identify problem areas, treatment goals and methods to attain goals.
Provide therapeutic services to child and family using differential treatment modalities.
Work with interdisciplinary team to develop a comprehensive treatment plan and to monitor on-going progress of child and family, as needed by program.
Case planner of assigned cases.
Work with referring and collateral agencies and prepare reports, correspondence as needed.
Record and maintain case record in accord with agency, JCAH and state mandates.
Participate in Intake Assessment as assigned.
MSW plus 0-2 years post-grad experience
LMSW license preferred within one year of hire
Masters in Mental Health Counseling (or equivalent) plus 0 - 2 years post-grad experience
The scope of practice, supervision and setting of this position qualifies as experience towards an LCSW or LMHC in New York State.
