To support North American regulation and certification activities by engaging in activities related to emissions certification with US regulatory authorities (EPA and CARB).

Volvo-funded corporate housing is available for this co-op.

Core Responsibilities
  • Consolidate information necessary to submit to EPA and ARB for emissions certification
  • Support relevant emissions related testing as needed for submission to EPA
  • Support the tracking and submission of running change reports as required
  • Support the tracking and submission of defect reports to EPA
  • Support the development of Federal and State regulations that impact the heavy-duty engine industry
  • Analyze emissions data and draw conclusions to support certification/ regulatory activities
  • Work to automate processes for developing certification documentation

  • Teamwork: Collaboration with industry representatives to define and secure common interests. Also, building cooperation among individuals and departments, sharing information and resources, and working to achieve group goals and outcomes
  • Communication: Possessing strong oral and written communication skills to inform, persuade, and negotiate. Reviewing lengthy industry and legal documents for issues relevant to the company; summarizing such documents for efficient communication to the organization

  • Initiative: Taking action in the absence of specific instructions or in the absence of a specific requirement, taking reasonable risks to achieve results, and persevering when challenged

Minimum Education and Experience
  • Junior/ Senior year student in engineering
