Under the general supervision of the Code Enforcement Supervisor, provides non-technical field and office support related to the investigation, processing and summary abatement of certain select types of violations or the City’s Municipal Code.
Duties and Responsibilities/Knowledge, Skills, Abilities and Behaviors:
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Enforces City ordinances and codes especially relative to illegal off-site signage; generally within public rights-of-way.
On a limited basis, answers questions and provides information in person pertaining to policies and procedures to the public regarding the municipal code and related matters.
Performs research and investigative work in determining extent of violation and non-compliance including photography of violations as evidence when required.
Maintains records and files.
Process and tracks forms.
Operates standard office equipment.
Pass a background check, drug screen and driving record check.
Comply with all written City policies and procedures.
Adhere to assigned work schedule as outlined in City and department attendance policies and procedures.

Requires the ability to classify, categorize and prioritize information and assignments.
Requires the ability to operate personal computer, maneuver and/or control the actions of equipment and materials used in performing essential functions.
Requires the ability to utilize city code books, maps and other advisory data.
Requires the ability to exercise independent judgment to adopt or modify methods and standards to meet variations in assigned objectives.
Requires the ability to perform coordinated movements involving placing and turning motions, such as utilizing a tape measure, measure wheel, hammer, pry bar and operating a computer terminal and other office equipment.
The ability to work in a team environment; contribute as a team member and treat co-workers, subordinates and customers with respect.
Build professional relationships with internal staff and customers.
Offer flexibility and adaptability, especially during times of change.
Communicate effectively both orally and in writing.
High school diploma or GED.
Valid Texas Drivers License required, with good driving record.
Any work related experience resulting in acceptable proficiency levels in the above Minimum Qualifications is an acceptable substitute for the above specified education and experience requirements.
Tasks involve the ability to exert moderate, though not constant physical effort, typically involving some combination of climbing and balancing, stooping, kneeling, crouching, and crawling, and which involves lifting, carrying, pushing and/or pulling of objects and materials of moderate weight (20-40 pounds). Some tasks require visual perception and discrimination and require oral communications ability.
Tasks may risk exposure to extreme heat/cold or extreme weather conditions, dust or pollen or vehicular traffic.
