Code Enforcement Officer/Building Inspector
City of Palacios - Palacios, TX
Performs technical building inspections and plan reviews to enforce compliance with Building,Electrical, Plumbing, and Mechanical Codes and Zoning ordinances for new and existing residential and commercial construction.Provides enforcement of all state and local building codes and zoning ordinances.Enforces compliance with local ordinances and administration of programs concerning demolition of dilapidated/dangerous structures, and overgrown lots.Issues all types of building related permits.Attends Planning & Zoning Commission and Zoning Board of Adjustment meetings.Provides technical information to Planning & Zoning CommissionProvides technical information to Zoning Board of AdjustmentsServes as Floodplain Manager.Assists insurance agents, Realtors, and others regarding the Flood Plain Insurance Program.Coordinates activities for the Animal Control DepartmentEnforces abandoned vehicle ordinancesInvestigates concerns from citizens regarding safety standards and code violations.Maintains availability to the public for information concerning City ordinance requirements.Attends City Council meetings, as requested.Keeps the Public Works Director informed of department operations. Provides administrative assistance to the Public Works Director in any aspect of city operations. Performs other duties and functions as assigned by the Public Works Director.
