Reviews medical record documentation to select and sequence the appropriate ICD-9-CM diagnosis, and ICD-9-CM procedure codes. Applies all appropriate coding guidelines and criteria for code selections. Adheres to Company and HSC Coding Compliance policies and procedures for the assignment of complete, accurate, timely, and consistent codes for diagnoses and procedures. DUTIES INCLUDE BUT ARE NOT LIMITED TO:Codes inpatient records for multiple facilitiesCodes an average of 5 inpatient records per hour with 95% accuracyInitiates physician queries in compliance with Company and HSC policy where appropriateReviews all official data quality standards, coding guidelines, Company policies and procedures, andclinical/medical resources to assure coding knowledge and skills remain currentMeets all educational requirements as stated in current Company and HSC policyPractice and adhere to the "Code of Conduct" philosophy and "Mission and Value Statement"Other duties as assignedCoding Technical skills- regulatory coding (ICD-9-CMand MS-DRGs) and associated reimbursement knowledgeCommunication - communicates clearly and conciselyCustomer orientation - establishes and maintains long-term customer relationships, building trust and respect by consistently meeting and exceeding expectationsAnalytical skills - effective evaluation, synthesis and use of information gatheredInitiative - independently takes prompt proactive steps toward problem resolutionOrganization - establishing courses of action to ensure that work is completed efficiently; proactively prioritizes assignments and keen ability to multi-taskPolicies & Procedures - articulates knowledge and understanding of organizational policies, proceduresand systemsPC skills - demonstrates proficiency in Microsoft Office applications and others as requiredQuality Orientation - accomplishing tasks by considering all areas involved, no matter how small; showing concern for all aspects of the job; accurately checking processes and tasks; being watchfulover a period of timeWork Independently - is self-supporting; not needing to rely on others to complete a job EDUCATIONUndergraduate degree in HIM/HIT preferred.
