About the role:
The Cognos Developer/Modeler is responsible for developing software applications using industry best practices. This will be in accordance with GM's software development project methodology and the creation of Business Intelligence (BI) solutions with the use of the Cognos suite of tools. The Cognos Developer/Modeler will translate user requirements into technical specifications, as well as design and develop framework manager models. This role will also design and develop reports, dashboard, and cubes and create and maintain technical application documentation.
Development activities will include configuration updates to existing software and/or developing new programs and models to address a particular business need. The Cognos Developer/Modeler will obtain a thorough understanding of the infrastructure and configuration of the existing GM Cognos environments.
- Bachelor's degree in IT related discipline or equivalent experience.
- 2- 4 years of experience with developing complex Cognos framework manager models and reports in large, global organizations.
- Hands-on development experience with Cognos.
- Thorough understanding of Cognos Report Studio’s features and functionality.
- Experience with Cognos security administration.
- Proficient in SQL.
- Excellent problem solving and debugging skills.
- Experience with Cognos Mobile and Go! Office.
- Experience with Agile, Scrum, iterative, or waterfall development and project methodologies.
- Experience and familiarity with IT best practices (e.g., CMMI, ISO9000, ITIL, COBIT) and their implications relative to repeatable software development.
