The Commercial Manager provides professional commercial support to the global Energy business for Rolls-Royce. The role exists to ensure that business is taken and conducted in a manner that minimizes and mitigates exposure to risk, is appropriate to business, and is in compliance with Company policies and other requirements. This role also helps the business in resolving issues arising during the execution phase of new equipment and aftermarket agreements. The Commercial Manager will will also advise the Small Engine Business segment of Energy which is based in Indianapolis, IN. The successful candidate will spend some substantial time in Indianapolis to carry out this portion of the job responsibilities.
Identify potential risks and liabilities inherent in tenders and contracts, propose and negotiate amendments to minimize or mitigate the same, using judgment in balancing commercial/legal considerations and risk assessments against the business requirements
Negotiate directly with worldwide Customers and/or partners to reach acceptable terms and conditions of New Equipment and Aftermarket agreements
Obtain the input of various Energy and Group functions (Legal, Tax, Insurance, Treasury, Compliance, Export Control) and integrate their advice into Energy agreements
Develop Company standard terms of business as required for new products and services to be offered by Rolls-Royce Energy
Advise Projects personnel of the New Equipment Business and Customer Business on commercial matters post-contract during the execution phase.

Qualifications and experience
Bachelors degree and 10+ years experience in a commercial role or masters degree and 8+ years experience in a commercial role
Contracts negotiation and management experience
Experience with commercial and legal contracting principles and processes typically gained with 5+ years work experience in a contracts position
A law or MBA degree
Good understanding of insurance, taxation, treasury and finance matters as they relate to an international discrete Projects-type business
