The Commodities Specialist will support the efficient operations of commodity programs within the Poet Biorefining group. Commodities includes: grain, ethanol, DDGS, and corn oil. Area of support will include proper receiving, load-out, storage, handling, regulatory compliance, procedure development, and optimization projects. The Commodity Specialist must have excellent communication skills and effectively work in a team environment. They must be willing to travel and work with both on site operations and the process engineering group.
To perform the essential functions of this position successfully, an individual should demonstrate the following competencies:
Bachelor’s Degree in Chemical, Ag or Mechanical Engineering or a Bachelor’s Degree in Agriculture Sciences or Agriculture Systems Management is preferred. An exceptional candidate with a 2 year degree and 5+ years of experience in an operating plant environment such as grain processing, or food processing could be considered. Experience in rail car loading, truck unloading, truck loading, grading grain to USDA specifications, weighing, inventory management, and safe grain handling is preferred. Experience in start-up and optimization of corn dry milling process helpful, including data base experience is preferred. Prefer knowledge and understanding of OSHA and EPA regulations. Experience in Word, Excel, Outlook and PowerPoint and the ability and willingness to learn new software applications is required. Excellent organizational skills, communications skills, the ability to multi-task, and most importantly, the ability to work well in a team.
