Operates communication equipment to receive incoming calls for assistance and dispatches personnel and equipment to scene of emergency, operates NCIC and other telephone consoles, performs a variety of general support duties related to communication activities.

Requires a high school diploma or GED. One year general clerical, heavy telephone, or public contact experience preferred.

Must be able to type at least 30WPM. Necessary skills and abilities include the ability to communicate effectively and deal tactfully with the public, ability to speak clearly and precisely, ability to learn standard broadcasting procedures and rules, work under pressure, exercise good judgment, and make sound decisions in emergency situations.

Candidate will be required to pass pre-employment screening which includes drug screen, polygraph, psychological, and background investigation.

May work irregular hours including evenings, weekends, and holidays.

Must be able to obtain a TCLEOSE Telecommunicator Certification and EMD Certification within first year of employment.

Pay Range: $14.71 per hour
