Job Responsibilities:

The Community Counselor creates a safe environment for patients, saves lives when necessary, provides hope, empowers patients, and teaches new tools for coping to patients. The Community Counselor provides direct patient care under the supervision of a registered nurse. Primary responsibilities include the provision of a safe and therapeutic milieu, crisis intervention, individual/family education groups and activities of daily living.


Job Requirements:

The following are the job requirements for the Community Counselor position:

  • Bachelors Degree in Psychology, Social Work or related field highly preferred
  • Associates Degree required; or a high school diploma/equivalent with a minimum of (4) years of formal work experience with the psychiatric patient population required.
  • Knowlege of human behavior or principles of Psychology, age specific growth and development, limit setting and behavior management, crisis management with aggressive behaviors, and CPR training preferred.
