Community Health Nurses provide comprehensive community health nursing services directed toward the prevention of disease, and the promotion of health in the community using professional nursing diagnosis, judgment in assessment, evaluation, screening, counseling and referral. Corrections Community Health Nurses function as members of health teams within Corrections Health in a correctional facility (either adult or juvenile). The Nurses work with diverse clients from a variety of backgrounds. Bilingual and bicultural candidates are strongly encouraged to apply. The ability to speak, read and understand languages other than English, such as Spanish, Vietnamese and Russian is desired for some assignments.
Premium pay includes an additional:
- $1.45- Corrections Health Clinic Pay
- $2.00- Swing Shift Pay
- $5.00- Graveyard Shift Pay
- $2.00- Weekend Shift Pay

Education/Training: A Bachelor’s degree in nursing from an accredited nursing program; OR an Associate’s degree in nursing from an accredited nursing program and two years of registered nurse level experience is required; AND
Experience: Recent experience in acute care or medical-surgical nursing within the 1-3 years prior to employment application or placement. Clinical rotations as part of nursing education within 1-3 years prior to employment application or placement may qualify for this experience. Assignments in Corrections Health require demonstrated ability to respond quickly in urgent/emergent situations and ability to pass a background check for access to secured facilities.
Licenses/Certificates: Upon hire, possession of a valid license to practice as a registered nurse issued by the State of Oregon is required for all areas. Possession of, or ability to obtain, an appropriate and valid driver's license may be required for some assignments.
Other: Ability to pass a background check for access to secured facilities may be required for some assignments.
Background Check: Positions working in any corrections health facilities require the ability to pass a security check prior to hire.
