The Community Manager - Video will lead communications efforts and story development for Shutterstock’s video business. Working alongside the footage team and reporting into global communications, candidate will be responsible for finding and creating PR stories, developing a messaging plan, writing and distributing press releases, working with the product and business teams and driving media mentions. Individual should have established contacts within the video production, traditional and digital media industries, a deep understanding of the film industry, and a proven track record of results-driven public relations and community development.
Identify and develop the international Footage Story (and supporting stories) that coincides with core company messaging.
Create and manage a steady stream of PR stories to relevant media, driving international media and blogger mentions and coverage across all relevant audiences.
Write and maintain footage press kit and write press releases and by-line articles.
Work with various teams to uncover newsworthy stories such as key product developments, marketable partnerships, content and contributor stories.
Create an influencer network and ambassador program to increase contributor loyalty, acquisition and overall brand awareness.
Launch and manage innovative programs to drive usage of Shutterstock footage in high-profile video productions.
Initiate and guide newsworthy partnerships and events. (An understanding of these events and the video production space is essential.)
Work with events, social and PR teams on trade show attendance, sponsorship opportunities, engagement tactics and external communications.
Uncover and train media spokespeople and arrange speaking and media opportunities.
Work with global PR team to ensure messages are part of core messaging and coordinate on various media opportunities and announcements.
3-5 years relevant PR or community experience in video production/filmmaking.
Passion for the broadcast and motion picture industries.
Must be willing/able to travel 20-30% of the time – including some international travel.
BA degree in marketing/advertising/communications/technology/related field.
Extensive experience with public speaking and presenting.
Extremely detail oriented.
Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
Ability to work in a fast-paced, deadline and results-driven environment.
An uncanny understanding of, and solid fluency in, the video/film community.
Exceptional project management and creative problem-solving skills.
