Under the supervision of the Assistant Director of the Center for Jewish Genetics, is responsible for tasks which contribute to the ongoing operation of the Center, which includes initiating and implementing community outreach programs, and special projects. This person will be responsible for building Center relationships resulting in new programming and initiatives, overseeing events from creation to implementation and will play an active role in the Center’s communication efforts. . This individual is also responsible for performing administrative functions as needed. As this position is grant dependent, it is subject to modification and/or renegotiations as needed.

  • Initiates and implements community outreach programs for the young adult community, women and families, synagogues, and rabbis
  • Plans collaborative projects and attends internal and external conference and meetings with various partners, including Jewish communal institutions, various JUF divisions, non-profit organizations, and government agencies
  • Builds relationships with key stakeholders, creating projects and initiatives resulting in expansion of Center’s communication efforts, resulting in the increase of attendance at screening programs and general awareness within the community at large.
  • Assists the Assistant Director in Associate Board development (young leadership group), attending meetings and following-through with outreach events
  • Distributes educational materials and resources throughout the community
  • Attends Board, Advisory Board, and Associate Board meetings
  • Performs other administrative tasks as assigned

  • Bachelor’s degree from accredited institution, in a related field
  • One to three years’ experience in event planning, public relations and/or program development in the Jewish community preferred
  • Excellent interpersonal, organizational, written and oral communication skills
  • Proficient in all Microsoft Office Suite of Products
  • Demonstrated collaborative skills, ability to function in a deadline oriented environment and ability to handle multiple tasks at one time
  • Knowledge of the Jewish community, culture, heritage, traditions and Jewish Communal Services
