The Legal and Compliance Department of JPMorgan Chase & Co is responsible for the provision of legal and compliance services to the Corporation. Legal and Compliance is organized by Practice Groups that conform to the organization of the Firm's lines of business (LOBs) and corporate staff areas, allowing the legal and compliance staff to work closely with specific groups on a daily basis. Each line of business has an LOB General Counsel, who is the Practice Group Head and who reports to the Firm's General Counsel. This structure provides the means for the legal and compliance teams to communicate legal and regulatory changes to the businesses and staff areas, and for the LOBs and staff areas to communicate business developments that have legal or regulatory implications to the legal and compliance teams in a timely manner.
The primary function of the Home Lending Legal & Compliance Practice group is to provide both transactional and strategic legal and compliance support on the various home lending businesses.
The Senior Compliance Officer, AVP, works in partnership with the lines of business and the Testing Compliance Manager to help manage compliance risk for Mortgage Banking Production, Servicing and/or Default completing compliance testing, reviews and maintenance of compliance risk assessments.
Assists in completing annual compliance test plans, maintenance of compliance risk assessments as applicable in the Compliance Assessment, Testing and Tracking System (CATTS).
Interprets federal regulatory compliance statutes, regulations, State Laws and analyzes their impact on existing policy and business practices.
Assesses and ranks compliance risk relative to all federal compliance regulations and State Laws, taking into account the potential civil penalties, reputational risk, regulatory risk, scope, controls and potential for non-compliance
Completes periodic assessment reviews and transactional testing of business processes with federal and state regulatory compliance impacts, which includes: selecting loan samples, tracking timely delivery of and maintenance of review papers, testing status and completing final review reports. Updating of all applicable compliance program documentation as applicable to each test.
Maintains repository of testing workpapers and CATTS system testing plans, risk assessments and action plans identified through specific compliance testing and reviews. Completes other management reporting as required.
Execute special projects as assigned by Compliance Management.
Highly motivated, results-oriented individual who is able to work independently under minimal supervision with an attention to detail.
Requires working knowledge of federal and state compliance laws and regulations governing the residential mortgage and home equity business. Including proven ability to apply these requirements to business practices, systems and identify and assess compliance risk.
Mortgage Banking, Regulatory Compliance or Auditing experience (10+ years), Bachelors Degree a plus.
Strong analytical, organizational, project management skills. Must possess the ability to comprehend and interpret the law and apply it to a wide variety of situations.
Ability to manage numerous reviews and confidential and sensitive information in a professional manner in a fast paced deadline driven environment.
Excellent verbal and written communication, as well as client management, negotiation, report/metrics and interpersonal skills.
Strong working knowledge of all Microsoft applications (Word, Excel, and PowerPoint)
