All adjunct faculty are required to be part of the Michigan Public Schools Employee Retirement System (MPSERS). Adjunct faculty are eligible to receive tuition benefit during the following academic year based on the contacts taught in the previous academic year.
This adjunct faculty member is responsible for teaching the CIT233 Project Management course for the Computer Information Technology (CIT) Department in the Business Academic Area, preparing and delivering instruction to students in cooperation with other faculty, teaching CIT courses. This course is intended for CIT students and business professionals who need to manage project activities or resources on time, on budget, and according to performance standards. Learning objectives are met using team-based service learning projects. Student teams select projects and complete project planning using traditional “Big Design Up Front” or waterfall methods. An agile model is introduced as the student projects transition into the execution phase. This adjunct faculty member will employ a range of suitable strategies to foster student learning, stimulate class discussions and encourage active learning in all students, maintain proper class-related records, and promptly assess student coursework and apprise students of progress. The adjunct faculty member is a member of the professional teaching staff that is responsible for effectively implementing the mission of NMC and the Business Academic Area. The ideal candidate will have experience managing projects from initiation through closure using both traditional waterfall and agile methodologies.
EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE , CERTIFICATES, LICENSES, and/or REGISTRATIONS
Bachelor's degree in field closely related to coursework
Business experience related to coursework taught
Three or four more years of professional experience in an area related to the coursework taught
Master’s degree in Information Technology or field closely related to coursework taught
College-level on-line and/or face-to-face teaching experience
WORK HOURS :
This is a part-time position. The CIT233 Project Management class meets Wednesdays from 5:30-8:30 and is a traditional classroom 15 week course.
