Job Center Computer Lab Assistant Internship-
The Indianapolis Public Library is currently seeking a Computer Lab Assistant Intern as part of the newly developed Job Center at the Library workforce development program. Under limited supervision, the selected candidate will work with Indianapolis Public Library and WorkOne staff to assist library patrons with workforce-related programs and computer projects.
The Job Center Computer Lab Assistant responsibilities will include: setting up and tearing down laptops and other equipment related to the Job Center computer labs; assisting library patrons during WorkOne staff-facilitated programs; assisting patrons with workforce-related projects, which may involve providing help to patrons with the basics in Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint and use of the Internet in relation to navigating job search engines and the Indiana Department of Workforce Development (DWD) website. Selected candidates will also be responsible for monitoring public use of the computer lab and performing a variety of clerical and technical tasks in support of this service.
The minimum qualifications include a high school diploma or its equivalent, a moderate ability level with Microsoft Office 2010 products, and the ability to familiarize self with and navigate the DWD website. Candidates must have the ability to travel between the six Job Center library locations (Central Library, Southport, East 38th Street, Eagle, and College Avenue Branches) and have the ability to work occasional evenings and weekends.
The internship will extend through March 2014, and will pay an hourly rate of $10.00.This hourly position is approximately 10-19 hours per week.
