Provides installation, configuration, and operational use of network security devices including firewalls, intrusion detection systems, and network traffic analyzers.Provides installation, configuration, and operational use of anti-virus, anti-spyware, and commercial computer forensic tools and products. Collects on-net signatures for network security devices and identifies those signatures that are unique to a particular device. Provides support to CNO developers by evaluating CNO tools and techniques with the above mentioned security products and tools. Provides written reports on results of evaluations.

Specific Skill Requirement:

Provide/author documentation, lead and participate in design, code, and software readiness reviews as prescribed by the Government" s software development procedures and processes

Provide/author and participate in technical presentations on assigned projects


Minimum eight (10) years experience in computer science, information systems, or network engineering

Minimum six (8) years experience programming in Assembly, C, C#, C++, Java, Perl, and Python

Minimum five (5) years experience developing Windows applications using Visual Studio or .NET environments OR minimum five (5) years experience developing UNIX applications using make files or comparable build environments

Minimum two (2) years experience developing programs to capture, analyze, and interpret network traffic

Minimum two (2) years experience developing packet-level programs Expert packet-level understanding of IP, TCP, and application-level protocols

Minimum two (2) years experience in network sockets programming

Minimum two (2) year experience programming device drivers in Windows and/or UNIX variants.

Desired Skills:

Able to lead CNO Analyst/Programmers in daily tasks

Able to setup and configure version control software (i.e. Subversion, CVS, etc.)

Able to debug software and troubleshoot issues

Able to create and brief technical presentations

Expert ability in UNIX kernel internals and/or low-level Windows internals

This job requires that you possess the proper Department of Defense Clearances needed for access to sensitive information including the ability to pass a polygraph exam.
