---------------------- OVERVIEW OF THE POSITION ----------------------
Responsible for maintaining information systems in support of core organizational functions, including installation, modification and/or repair of hardware and software systems. Communicates daily with County departments regarding systems upgrades, problem resolution, and user issues.
---------------------- RESPONSIBILITIES/DUTIES -----------------------
01 Performs routine and emergency maintenance and repair on computers, peripherals and network equipment to provide stable computer systems to end users.
02 Develops internal network and systems procedures and documentation.
03 Assembles, configures and deploys computers, accessories and/or network equipment.
04 Performs system backups as necessary. Identifies and interprets malfunctions and initiates corrective action to restore operation.
05 Maintains end user accounts, permissions, and access rights.
06 Loads, troubleshoots, tests and updates software packages including operating systems, commercial applications, word processing and spreadsheet programs.
07 Assists and/or trains individuals or groups of users in the use of software applications.
08 Assists in the creation and maintenance of documentation of procedures, hardware and equipment inventory.
09 Operate computer console and related peripheral equipment to process jobs and monitor system performance; perform file maintenance.
10 Remain current on technology developments through staff meetings, vendor demonstrations, technical literature, classes and seminars, etc.
11 Adheres to confidentiality provisions/regulations including but not limited to Oregon Identity Theft Protection Act, HIPPA (Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act), PCI DSS (Payment Card Security Standard), GLBA (Gramm-Leach-Bliley Act) and SOX (Sarbanes-Oxley Act).

PAY TYPE: Hourly SALARY/GRADE: UH22 RANGE: $18.96 - $24.66
--------------------------- WORK SCHEDULE ----------------------------
The normal work schedule is 19 hours or less per week; exact schedules are assigned by management. It is the attendance standard of the employer that all employees be present and on time each shift they are scheduled to work. Full or partial absence during any scheduled shift, arriving late, or leaving early, for whatever reason, may result in disciplinary action up to and including termination of employment. Time off may be approved if allowed by applicable policies covering illness, injury, or other personal emergency.
----------------- EDUCATIONAL/VOCATIONAL PREPARATION -----------------
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES REQUIRED BY THIS POSITION Knowledge of: Considerable knowledge of computer operating principles, capabilities, and general uses; considerable knowledge of recommended computer hardware, software and peripheral equipment. Skill in: Diagnosing and correcting computer hardware and software problems; guiding and encouraging computer system users and translating technical instructions into understandable language for users. Ability to: Communicate effectively in both oral and written forms; install, test, operate and adjust computer hardware, software and peripherals, using reference manuals and vendor-supplied technical support facilities for problem resolution; reason logically when analyzing data and utilize problem identification and resolution techniques; make decisions independently in accordance with established policy and use initiative and judgment in completing tasks and responsibilities; work within a team concept; plan and manage time efficiently; courteously meet and deal effectively with other employees, vendors and the public.
Education, experience and training: Associate's degree in computer science or related field and two years experience in computer operations or a related field OR four years experience in computer operations or a related field OR a satisfactory equivalent combination of education, experience and training.
Desirable qualifications: Knowledge of department policies and procedures; knowledge of county purchasing policies and procedures.
