Its primary business involves the manufacture and placement of asphalt for roads, city streets and parking lots. Currently, OMNI Engineering employs around 200 employees and remains a competitive force in the Omaha market.

Position Overview

The selected intern will be required to work in a team environment with other co-workers and managers.

Ensure a safe work environment in compliance with all safety policies and procedures using the appropriate tools and equipment for the task.

Properly follow all company policies and OSHA/MSHA regulations for safe working procedures and environment.

Report any problems to your manager/supervisor.

Develop in a team environment to be the best in the business.

Must have knowledge and experience with Microsoft Word and Excel.

Good written and verbal communication skills.

Be willing to fully participate in job assignments within Omaha and State of Nebraska.

Must be willing to work long hours, nights and weekends if necessary.

Perform other duties as assigned.

Key Responsibilities A Construction Engineer Intern position provides hands on learning experience directly related to responsibilities that transfer skills needed in a full time position. The opportunity is available to develop, participate and learn key roles and functions with construction project management operations. Position will be exposed to any number of these responsibilities including but not limited to planning, estimating, scheduling, quantitiy tracking and progress reporting, cost management, material and equipment management, subcontractor coordination, HMA Plant scheduling and coordination, and Quality Control. Position may consist of surveying, drafting, and field work.


Minimum of high school diploma or general education degree required (GED) required.

Currently attaining a college degree in Civil/Construction Engineering or Construction Management.

Work Requirements

The ideal candidate will:
Pass pre employment drug screen and criminal background check.

Pass a pre-employment “Fit for Work” physical (if applicable).

Be able to provide valid documentation for the I-9 Immigration document.

Display a professional and courteous attitude to co-workers, supervisors and the general public at all times.

Report to work at the designated start time.

Be willing to work nights and weekends when necessary.

Be able to work overtime when required.

Some travel required and overnight stay if necessary.

Be willing to work outdoors in extreme temperatures, both hot and cold.

Strictly adhere to safety requirements and procedures as outlined in the Employee Handbook.

Have the willingness to work in a team environment and assist co-workers or supervisors with other duties as required.

Wear personal protective equipment (PPE) in designated operations and production areas as stated by OSHA and/or MSHA.

Must be at least 18 years of age due to nature of working environment.

Physical Requirements

Must be able to lift 50 lbs.

Work is office oriented, but may require walking, climbing, bending, pushing, pulling, and lifting 50lb objects.

Job hazards include exposure to dust, noise, fumes and all weather conditions. Potential for serious injury exists if equipment is misused or safety precautions are not followed.

Able to stand, walk, use hands and fingers to manipulate objects or controls, climb or balance stoop, kneel, crouch, crawl, talk and hear.

Vision abilities (with correction) include close, distance, peripheral, depth, and the ability to adjust focus.

Must be able to work in all weather conditions.

The employee will frequently be required to sit, climb and use hands.
