Provides technical inspections and acts as the City's representative monitoring and enforcing applicable contract provisions. Conducts site surveillance, inspects public-works construction projects, verifies compliance with plans and specifications, and acts as the primary contact with contractors' site operations. Compiles and submits regular reports of compliance, tests, submittals, and progress against agreed-upon schedules. May assist in preparation of cost estimates and punch lists, recommends corrective actions, and reviews payment requests from contractors.
CONSTRUCTION INSPECTOR I: Associate degree plus six months experience in site construction, public works construction management; or an equivalent combination of education, training, and experience. Florida driver license required.
CONSTRUCTION INSPECTOR II: Same as Construction Inspector I, above, except requires two years experience as specified.
MUST PASS A CRIMINAL BACKGROUND CHECK AND POLYGRAPH EXAMINATION.
VALID DRIVER LICENSE FROM ANY STATE MUST BE PRESENTED AT TIME OF INTERVIEW. VALID FLORIDA DRIVER LICENSE MUST BE PRESENTED WITHIN 30 DAYS OF HIRE.
SPECIAL TRAINING/CERTIFICATION REQUIREMENTS: The following training/certifications are preferred or must be obtained within 90 days of employment: ACI Level I, OSHA Excavation and Trench Safety, OSHA Confined Spaces, FDOT Intermediate MOT, and FDEP NPDES. These additional certifications are desired: FDOT CTQP Asphalt Paving Level I, FDOT CTQP Earthwork Construction Level I, FDOT CTQP Asphalt Paving Level II, and FDOT CTQP Earthwork Construction Level II.
