Summary

Microsoft Lync Unified Communications (UC) Senior Consultant candidates should have broad and deep experience-based knowledge of OCS / Lync gained through genuine involvement in the planning, design and implementation of multiple solutions on large-scale, complex multi-technology projects for enterprise customers.

In addition to understanding OCS / Lync through genuine project delivery experience, candidates should be able to articulate the business benefits as well as the technical benefits and be able to prioritize these benefits amidst other decisions and options facing AT&T Consulting customers.

The successful candidates will be able to express themselves well in writing, as well as demonstrating proficiency in both formal and informal presentations along with excellent consultative, workshop and facilitation skills. They will be able to engage effectively with a wide variety of individuals, both within a project team, and especially with the customer at all levels of seniority. In customer delivery, they will be expected to engage with senior management in a business-context as well as interacting with - and often leading - a team of technical staff and third party service delivery partners.

Candidates should demonstrate a proven willingness to share knowledge and support colleagues. Experience of project management tools and methodologies is desirable and candidates should demonstrate an ability to be self-driven and organized.

Responsibilities

Participate in customer-facing pre-sales activities, RFP response development, scoping and developing Statements of Works

Effectively apply technical knowledge to pre-sales situations and crafting solutions for customers

Validating, defining, documenting and effectively communicating requirements to senior customer stakeholders

Architecting complex large-scale OCS / Lync solutions to meet the needs of the customer

Establishing and maintaining a professional working relationship at multiple levels both internally, with customers and service delivery partners

Creation of ‘Statement of Requirements’ for service delivery partners

Planning, design, configuration, implementation, operation and optimization of Microsoft technology solutions which include telephony integration and audio/video conferencing

Prepare, publish and present detailed solution as-built documentation

Integration of Exchange infrastructure:
o

High-level to low-level infrastructure design with comprehensive documentation

o

Migration planning, risk assessments, and impact analysis

o

Network auditing and sizing

o

Deployment installation and configuration

o

Software strategy

o

Performance engineering and optimization

o

Knowledge transfer and mentoring

o

Test plan/strategy development

Providing technical consulting expertise to internal project teams and customers

Provide project leadership to the AT&T Consulting field UC and voice consultants

Sharing knowledge and experience through formal and informal knowledge management initiatives

Proactively maintain knowledge/awareness of existing network and applications, including new products and technologies relating to both Microsoft and other supplier telephony and UC&C products, e.g. Cisco Call Manager, Avaya Communications Manager, AudioCodes

Support UC Practice community of excellence on a national level

Qualifications

Required Skills and Experience

Bachelor’s degree in technology or equivalent demonstrated work experience

10 years professional IT experience

MCSE, MCITP, or MCSA certification plus messaging specialization on Office Communications Server 2007, Lync 2010 or Lync 2013

2 years recent experience in enterprise OCS / Lync / UC architecture design, deployment and operations support of multiple network sites and varied business units

5 years working in Windows Server and Exchange technologies

Experience with Active Directory and PKI

2 years in Enterprise Voice, PBX and networking high-availability plan, design, build and operations

Design and implementation of large-scale/complex voice architectures, demonstrating skills in network bandwidth analysis/network design and management, including working knowledge of PBX integration scenarios (i.e. Communications Server deployed with the intent to handle voice communications; including the ability to make inbound and outbound PSTN voice calls via third party PBX, gateway or SIP Trunk).

Experience with Microsoft compatible Voice Gateways or 3

Party voice solutions (i.e., AudioCodes, NET)

Experience with developing enterprise dial plans and translations

Practical working knowledge of the Microsoft technologies that interact with OCS / Lync and their application to real-world business problems in large-scale customer environments such as Exchange and Active Directory

Understanding of protocols (SIPv2, CSTA/SIP) and codecs (G.722, G.711, G.729, H.264 and Microsoft Real-time adaptive codec)

Experience in implementing integration gateways including Survivable Branch Appliance (SBA) and Microsoft applications

Experience in voice/video/data networking, telephony management and voice applications

Analytical, consultative and methodical support skills and the ability to lead users and staff through business requirements and delivering business and technical solutions

Experience identifying and maintaining the voice dependencies on local and wide-area networks

Knowledge of the following related technologies will also be useful: PBX integration, video conferencing products, SharePoint and other related third party products

Knowledge and experience provisioning WAN technologies such as T1/T3 circuits, frame relay, MPLS, HDLC, PPP and ISDN PRI/BRI

Possess an understanding of all key supporting technologies and standards including Active Directory, DNS, TCP/IP, PKI, SIP, SDP, TDM, PBX, IP-PBX, and Video MCU

Desired Skills and Experience

Master’s degree in technology

Architect level or program/project leadership experience

Architect and Engineering level experience in one or more of the following:

o

Exchange 2007 / 2010 / 2013

o

System Center (Configuration Manager, Operations Manager, or Virtualization Manager)

o

SQL 2005 / 2008 /2012

o

Firewall, and Load Balancing solutions - Networking (DMZ Design)

o

Cisco and Avaya UC Solutions

o

Polycom or Cisco/Tandberg Video deployment or integration experience

o

Virtualization Technologies – Server or Desktop

o

PowerShell Automation

o

Contact Center Solution

Consulting, Sales, Business and Interpersonal Skills

Detailed knowledge of unified communications strategies

Microsoft Lync UC deployment functions, operations and deployment experience

Strong knowledge of internetworking, voice and IP telephony fundamentals and integration

Excellent written and presentation skills

Ability to travel up to 50%

Outstanding interpersonal skills and responsiveness supporting sales and field management and building best practices for field adoption

Business acumen and expertise aligning an organization's unified communications and telecommunications posture with business goals and drivers, and providing guidance on effective risk management
