The purpose of this position within the Finance Business Process Knowledge Center (BPKC) is to provide technical business process support for the General Accounting process.
The Finance BPKC is responsible for providing business process and SAP training, consulting, high-level problem resolution, and process improvements suggestions in an effort to leverage the use of SAP to make General Accounting business processes more efficient and effective.
The responsibilities listed below translate into approximately the following level of engagement: 40% operational support, 30% knowledge transfer, and 25% project/process improvement work.
While this position will perform no IT technical configuration or ABAP work, configuration knowledge and experiences may be helpful but not required. In short, the position responsibilities focus on the usability of the SAP system by our shared service center, business process outsourced provider, and country affiliate personnel.
Provide tier 2/3 support for regional shared service center, business process outsourced partner and SAP enabled affiliates on General Accounting business process production support questions and problems.
Provide formal business process and SAP knowledge transfer and sharing of key learning points and system changes to the General Accounting community to increase business process knowledge and SAP proficiency.
Coordinate and serve as a key subject matter expert in the creation and revision of training material and/or Global and Regional SOPs and Job Aids Conduct business process discussions to assure business process are understood, stable, controlled, and efficient. Provide subject matter expertise on data.
Although the position is not assigned as the global data steward, however, you will need an understanding of data and its impact on transactional processing and reporting. Work with global process owners,shared service center management and business process outsourced partner on process improvement matters to assure the system is meeting the vision and efficiency and effectiveness metric targets are met.
Provide subject matter expertise and, as assigned, play key roles on improvement projects.
Provide SAP regression and new functionality testing coordination by identifying what needs to be tested and by which country affiliate.
Additionally, this activity includes the high level coordination of the county affiliate, shared service center testers or business process outsourced partner. Deliver Release scope and Test Plan communications Understand level two security authorizations and security role group purposes to help provide security guidance, i.e., understand existing security role groups and unravel transaction level problems within role groups. Serve as a key technical business process subject matter expert on the production support governance by assessing the criticality of issues and by prioritizing break/fix and enhancement SAP change requests. In addition, this role will work with the Lilly IT organization to ensure timely delivery of prioritized system changes. Serves as an enquiring mind by researching new technologies and process methods for his/her process and by performing benchmarking activities.
Strong General Accounting business process knowledge and experiences
Strong SAP skills – not necessarily configuration skills as the position responsibilities focus is on SAP usability and how SAP is used/can be used to execute business processes
Demonstrated both a bias for action and a focus on results
Demonstrated ability to appropriately diagnose complex SAP and business problems, select or create appropriate alternative solutions, and effectively implement the appropriate solution
Ability to influence and steer people at all levels
Bachelor Degree in business preferred
Ability to work effectively in a virtual team environment with multiple internal and external business partners / service providers.
Ability to train people in multiple ways such as Classroom training and Web meetings

Previous experience supporting multiple countries for a global company utilizing a shared service center support structure
Knowledge of local legal business processes requirements
Previous experience in a Financial Accounting department
Previous SAP implementation experience
Effective project management skills
Six Sigma Green Belt expertise
Due to the nature of the support activities, some overtime and/or “off hours” effort may be required during peak business times
Some international travel will be required (up to 15% of the working time)
