Duties And Responsibilities
& Minimum Requirements:
Control Room Operating Engineer (1st Class) maintains constant watch over all operating equipment through monitoring control room instrumentation, computer screen and printout and alarms, ensuring that the equipment is performing according to prescribed characteristics for a safe and efficient operation in providing steam, chilled water and electrical services to the central distribution system:
Operates intuitively from previous background knowledge in troubleshooting the gauges and instruments on panel to bring about satisfactory operation of fluidized bed boiler, which is unique in its design and operation.
Participates in repair maintenance and installation of plant equipment.
Reviews and ensures that control room log readings, plant walk down sheets, and boiler and chilled water readings and analyses are taken properly by equipment operators.
As required, makes sure corrective action is taken to chemical treatments and adjustments to plant equipment.
Reviews operational manuals, technical manuals and plant procedures.
Makes operational changes and adjustments as required to secure safe, efficient and continual operation,
As required, performs the duties of the shift supervisor.
District of Columbia 1st Class Engineer’s License.
High School diploma or GED certificate.
At least 5 years of experience in trade practices of steam engineering.
Ability to interpret, evaluate equipment conditions, and direct the actions of field equipment and personnel.
