Summary: The Cook develops and prepare hot food according to recipes and production sheets for patients, employees, physicians and visitors and volunteers, following safe food handling guidelines established by department, as well as other job related duties. Works under the supervision of the Production Coordinator at Harris Regional Hospital's Food & Nutrition department.
Education: High School Graduate or equivalent preferred. Experience: Two (2) years food production experience preferred.
Other : Must be able to read and understand verbal and written instructions. If position requires transit duties in the course of catering or meal deliveries to local jail, must have a valid drivers license and a motor vehicle record acceptable to WestCare's auto liability carrier.
Physical Requirements : Must be able to lift objects up to 50 lbs. chest high, exposure to change of temperature - freezer (-10 F) and refrigerators (40 F) and be able to stand for long periods of time. Corrected hearing and vision to normal ranges for safety reasons. Working Environment: Hospital rooms, clinical department, hospital ground and the surrounding community. Potential exposure to patient who may be physically or verbally abuse. Potential exposure to communicable diseases. This position requires use of gloves and hair restraints.
