Culinary Services Cook – Per Diem
The successful incumbent will demonstrate a strong commitment to the philosophy and goals of the mission of Hebrew SeniorLife and recognize resident and/or patient dignity and choice in aspects of daily life. They will strive to make every encounter with a resident and/or patient into a positive and meaningful experience and opportunity, while providing safe and efficient quality of care, in a teamwork environment.
The Cook will be responsible for preparation of entrees, vegetables, salads and desserts on menus for all regular and special diets, for members and personnel. Additionally, the Cook is accountable to sign off on work production sheets for food served records, including changes and omissions, and reason for each is approved.
In this position, the Cook will prepare palatably for all members the proper amounts of all foods on the menu in accordance with dietary spread sheets and production sheets, standardized recipes, preparation methods, portion control, time schedules, and sanitary standards as well as serving procedures. The Cook will also supervise other workers in the department in the absence of the sous chef and chef.
High School Degree or Equivalent
At least one year as a cook in a quality food service operation is preferred
Must be serv safe certified or willing to become serv safe certified
Physical Requirments: Stands much of the time
Walks short distances
Stoops for, reaches for, and lifts food and equipment
Must be able to withstand changes in temperature when going in and out of the walk-in refrigerator
Must pass food handlers physical examination.
