Counter- Weapons of Mass Destruction (WMD) Biological Specialist, Arlington, VA CAD-2012-16
Applied Research Associates, Inc. (ARA) is seeking a Counter-Weapons of Mass Destruction (WMD) Biological Specialist with experience supporting biological defense and intelligence research. The successful candidate will have a working knowledge of biology, modeling and simulation, and/or engineering concepts as applied to investigating, evaluating and developing analysis tools, methodologies, and models. This position will be located in Arlington, VA at a government site.
The Counter- Weapons of Mass Destruction (WMD) Biological Specialist will perform a variety of moderately complex activities of an analysis, design, or test nature and will participate on project teams and provide guidance to less experienced technical staff. The candidate should have an understanding of bacterial and viral production processes, weapons of mass destruction defense measures, and the application of intelligence analysis methods. Candidate will plan, conduct, and may supervise research, development, or installation of products in conformance with customer specifications. Will perform collation of data from studies, assessments and projections as part of the analysis process, and will be responsible for developing technical reports and briefings, project deliverables, and other finished products. Other duties will include: development of tools for the analysis of biological processes, equipment, and facilities; integrating with team members and external performers/customers; and coordination of project plans and schedules.
This is not a laboratory position.
Applicants selected will be subject to a government security investigation and must meet eligibility requirements for access to classified information.
This position is in support of a Department of Defense Agency and applicants selected for this position must have an Active Department of Defense TS with eligibility for SCI clearance.
- Bachelor's degree in Biology, Engineering, or other relevant physical science
- Background in Biological defense, Counter-WMD applications, and/or Intelligence research, collection, and analysis
- Writing technical documents with minimal need for editing
- High proficiency with Microsoft Office suite, and advanced analytical and modeling techniques
- Eight to ten years of professional experience, and five or more years of relevant experience
- Master's degree or PhD and 5 years of experience
- Experience in biological process modeling, equipment, and characterization
- Prior experience in the Intelligence Community
