Credentialing Specialists work throughout the Legacy system in Medical Staff Servcies and Patient Business Services. Individual duties vary by location and department. Credentialing Specialists are responsible for organizing, coordinating and/or completing initial credentialing/appointments, re-credentialing/ re-appointments, and/or temporary privileges for the professional staff of Legacy Health, including but not limited to, the Medical and Allied Health Staff. Within the Medical Staff Services department, this position is responsible for assuring all Medical Staff and Allied Staff practitioners treating patients are credentialed to do so. Credentialing specialists also provide support for hospital-based Medical Staff Offices. Within Patient Business Services, this position is responsible for assuring that all employed and contracted providers are established with appropriate health plans.
High school education. Some college desirable.
Minimum two years relevant credentialing experience or equivalent, preferably in a like setting such as a health plan, clinic or hospital.
Certification in Certified Professional Medical Services Management or as Certified Provider Credentialing Specialist preferred.
Excellent organizational skills.
Ability to handle large volume of work.
Excellent computer and word processing skills.
Ability to speak in front of small groups.
Knowledge of privacy laws, regulations and national standards related to health plan credentialing and/or Medical Staff Services.
