Incumbent will enter a comprehensive Multifamily Credit Training Program that covers commercial loan underwriting for all Multifamily property types. The formal training will include all aspects of underwriting, including borrower financial and property operating due diligence, appraisal, environmental and engineering analysis and debt structures. Concurrent with the formal training program, the incumbent will perform transaction level reviews (TLRs) within the Integrated Credit Review (ICR) system on Multifamily loans. The TLR process includes reviewing and analyzing the underwriting, risk rating, and compliance with controls, summarizing TLR findings, making recommendations for corrective action, and assisting the Senior Manager in reporting results to internal and external parties and senior management on a timely basis. The incumbent will receive training in all aspects of commercial underwriting and credit analysis in order to apply that knowledge to individual TLRs, and to prepare for future roles across the Multifamily business. Applicants will be expected to learn and demonstrate full knowledge of Credit/ Loan Review policies and procedures, DUS Guidelines, Risk Rating process and guidelines, and the Multifamily Delegation of Authority. This role will regularly interface with senior credit/underwriting personnel within other departments, lenders and outside partners. Additionally, the incumbent will assist in special projects within Credit Review.


Participate in classroom and on-the-job training to become proficient in all aspects of Multifamily' lending and the Loan Review process.

Will learn how to use multiple Fannie Mae applications and perform Transaction Level Reviews on Multifamily loans to verify credit quality, risk rating in compliance with Fannie Mae Multifamily standards and procedures.

Oral and written communication/ analytical skills to report the results of the TLR analysis to senior management, internal partners, and Multifamily customers/ lenders.

Participate in special projects within Enterprise Risk Management's Credit Review function, e.g., analyze individual deals including special assets and workouts, assist in property inspections, create spreadsheets and models in MS Excel, and organize data and reports.

Actively review and participate in corporate initiatives that impact Fannie Mae credit standards and guidelines. Ensure business unit alignment with updated corporate policies and standards.

Demonstrate leadership, collegiality, and develop change management skills to build collaborative relationships within the Enterprise Risk Management and Multifamily teams


Bachelor's Degree or equivalent required


1 years of related experience


BS/ Graduate level studies preferred in real estate and/or finance. Working knowledge of commercial real estate debt and equity markets. Understands GSE role in these markets.
