Come join an excellent team at Sweetser working as an Crisis Intervention Specialist . The Crisis Intervention Specialist provides assessment, support and stabilization services in the community, within crisis stabilization units, and over a 30-day post-crisis stabilization period. The role of Crisis Intervention Specialists in the Portland program includes provision of hot line response services to adults, children, families and other callers.

The Ideal Candidate Will:
Responds to requests for crisis intervention, consultation and support from person served, family members, community-based service providers and state agencies in order to resolve crisis situations involving children and/or adults who are experiencing an acute psychiatric crisis.
In collaboration with the caller, determines the need for a face-to-face assessment and, if needed, negotiates a meeting site convenient for the individual that provides safety for all involved.
Crisis Intervention Clinicians are encouraged to provide service in the least restrictive setting that supports the comfort and dignity of the person served.
Communicates directly with persons experiencing a crisis in order to assess mental status, current level of functioning, and the person's wishes and goals for crisis resolution.
Develops a crisis stabilization plan with the person served and family or guardian, if involved, based on a comprehensive crisis assessment that includes mental status and risk assessments.
May request protective custody interventions by law enforcement personnel in order to resolve potentially life-threatening situations.
May facilitate voluntary or involuntary hospitalization in accordance with state regulations.
May facilitate the use of alternatives to hospitalization, including voluntary admission to crisis stabilization units.
Develops and participates in implementation of crisis follow-up treatment plan by providing intervention services, including the provision of brief case management services and aftercare.
Authorizes, if appropriate, the allocation of state contract funds in order to support alternatives to voluntary/involuntary admissions at a hospital or mental health facility.
Provides necessary information/communication to meet all requirements needed for managed care authorization of services and 3rd party insurance reimbursements.
Meets recordkeeping requirements by the timely completion of assessments and by maintaining current case notes, logs and other information as required in the client's chart.
Assumes other tasks necessary to support program functioning as assigned by the Program Manager or designee. Education Requirements

Master's Degree in social work or other clinical mental health discipline or related field; or Bachelor's Degree in social work or related field with a minimum of two years of relevant experience required.
MHRT/C, OQMHP/C, MHRT/CSP preferred. General Requirements

Clean Driver's license.
Proof of measles, mumps, rubella, varicella immunizations before time of hire.
