The Critical Product Manager is responsible for planning, implementing, maintaining, and evaluating identified critical high volume supplies used within the OR. Communicates with vendors to expedite transactions. Coordinates the supply aspect of surgical services in a cost-effective manner while delivering quality service to the customer.
Works collaboratively with supply chain to ensure alignment and achievement of hospital and Ascension Health goals.
Liaison between clinically critical items and resource and supply management group.
Responsible for appropriate procurement and use of critical high volume supplies and equipment based on Decision Team and financial analyses within the OR, Cath Lab, Orthopedics, and Radiology.
Facilitates Decision Teams with physicians and clinicians to ensure optimal clinical and cost benefit decision-making especially for the high value physician preference supplies.
Coordinates trials and introduction of new supplies with the OR staff and physicians.
Assists with coordinating in-services with the OR Staff.
Leads cost reduction strategies in the OR that engage physicians, clinicians, and administration.
Collaborates with Nurses and Physicians, Supply Chain, Laundry Directors, and other hospital departments.
Reviews departmental need for supplies based on surgical procedural volumes, advances in technology, and input from physicians and other clinical staff (especially specialty team coordinators); makes recommendations and offers possible alternatives.
Manages all clinically-critical, high dollar inventory to assure adequate supplies for service volume needs
Conducts physical inventories, justifies variances and monitors compliance to establish inventory control standards.
Collaborates with the financial services division staff to update supply prices and problem solve issues; provides information for inventory, supplies, etc. to maintain a computerized information system.
Monitors the vendor credentialing program for the OR, Cath Lab, Orthopedics, and Radiology.
Demonstrates quality improvement, analytical, and implementation skills with regard to clinical process.
Demonstrates excellent communication skills both verbally and in writing and be able to articulate the opportunities and challenges involved in supply acquisition, introduction, and implementation.

Limited travel required for local Health Ministry, Ministry Market or Saint Louis Supply Chain meetings or initiatives.
Bachelor’s degree (BA/BS) in related field from four year college or university. Bachelors degree in business or nursing - related field preferred.
Ability to work with mathematical concepts such as probability and statistical inference, and fundamentals of plane and solid geometry and trigonometry. Ability to apply concepts such as fractions, percentages, ratios and proportions to practical situations. Basic knowledge of procurement and accounting practices.
Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists. Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram or schedule form.
Ability to read, analyze, and interpret general business periodicals, professional journals, technical procedure, or governmental regulations. Ability to write reports, business correspondence, and procedure manuals. Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from groups of managers, clients, customers and the general public. Writing required is involved and requires abstraction of data from multiple sources and presented in a readable, logical format.
Difficult problems are encountered and it may be hard to identify all of the related issues. Solutions require research, analyzing multiple factors, conflicting information, etc.

Preferred License, Certification and/or Registration: Licensure as RN, Certified Materials and Resources Professional (CMRP), Certified Materials Professional (CMP) or Certified Materials Manager credentials
Preferred Experience: From three – five (3 - 5) years’ Operating Room Nursing or certified Surgical Technician experience, demonstrated analytical experience, and inventory control or purchasing experience
