LBP/Terrace Paper has been operational for more than 30 years offering packaging to a number of business throughout the U.S. Position Summary: This position serves as a technical/mechanical expert and representative for the Cups Department. Directly responsible for training all cup operators as well as maintenance technicians and maintains the facility equipment as directed by the MFG Director. Responsible for making sure machines operate and run effectively to meet production requirements at all times. Performs supervisory duties of cup personnel as needed.Primary Duties and Responsibilities: Train Cup department operators as well as maintenance technicians. Offer technical/ mechanical support across departments in offering definition and positioning. Suggest alternative technical/mechanical solutions to meet company & customer requirements more efficiently, and/or with greater reusability, and / or longer life. Promote and coordinate technical knowledge harvesting within the organization. Thoroughly test equipment and the solution to problems to ensure equipment meets production and quality standards at all times. Define, communicate and enforce all safety requirements. Track and identify new opportunities to improve our methodology and training offerings in the maintenance department. Assist in strategic sales efforts from a technical/mechanical perspective. Consistently deliver high-quality services to our machines and customers. Responsible for maintaining, monitoring and controlling all spare parts, tooling, etc., for the cup lines. Main liaison between LBP and Horauf for all engineering and parts-related support. Manage overall operation of cup department on an as needed basis as directed by the Director of Manufacturing. Act as a leader on the floor by setting expectations for safety, quality and manufacturing. Assist MFG Director with handling difficult personnel situations with appropriate discretion, HR advice, and respect for the individual. Promote and represent the company through professional involvement with vendors and customers. Communicate effectively with other departments to identify needs and evaluate alternative technical solutions and strategies. Continually define ways to increase customer satisfaction and deepen client relationships. Maintains lasting client relationships. Ensure that we consistently deliver superior technical/mechanical solutions to customers and the organization Technical Expertise: Possesses significant knowledge of: Cup manufacturing equipment from both a mechanical and electronic perspective. Should have knowledge and experience working with, repairing and troubleshooting the various components of cup making equipment (ie., gear trains, belts, conveyors, heaters, chilled water systems, cables, circuitry, lubricating and oiling mechanisms, forming and converting tooling, sensors, compressed air and vacuum systems, baggers, cup transfer systems, etc.) Cup processing technology and the cause-effect relationship between various machine process settings/parameters and finished product quality. Recyclable and poly coated papers and substrates. Hot melt adhesives.
Bachelors degree and/or completed trade program in related technical field. Five plus years experience in the corrugated and/or folding carton preferred, or related industry. Experience in electronics, mechanical, hydraulics, electrical, pneumatics, CNC. Able to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals. Able to calculate figures and amounts such as percentages, measurement, volume and rate. Must have working knowledge of equipment design and capabilities that can be translated into efficient operation. Fluency in German preferred. Good communication skills- must be able to interact with people in a professional manner. Must be organized, dependable and resourceful. Proficient in Microsoft programs; Word, Excel.
