The Department of Curriculum & Instruction at the State University of New York at Oswego invites applications for a tenure track position as Assistant Professor in Special Education.

Review Date: Review of applications will begin October 15, 2012, and will continue until the position is filled.

Salary: Commensurate with rank and experience.

Date of Appointment: Fall 2013

Description of Responsibilities: Responsibilities will include teaching undergraduate and graduate special education courses, student academic advisement, committee assignments, and student teaching supervision.

Required Qualifications: Doctorate in Special Education or related field. ABD will be considered with completion within 2 years of appointment. Teaching experience as a special educator in K-12 schools and commitment to promote all students’ ability to succeed in a multicultural and global community.

Preferred Qualifications: Doctorate in Special Education. Preferred candidates will have experience as a special educator in K-12 schools and bring expertise in two or more of these priority areas: inclusive education and foundations of special education, assessment, literacy, positive behavior support, educating students with autism and significant disabilities, assistive technology. In addition, a candidate’s professional emphasis on teaching for social justice, interdisciplinary instruction, and the integration of technology in teaching and learning are highly desirable.

The department consists of 29 full-time faculty, teaching undergraduate and graduate courses in childhood education, adolescence education, TESOL education, literacy education, and special education.
