washing wind o ws and w a lls, dustin g , cle a ning and sanitizing
restroo m s, and pe r forming
special projects, setting
up m e eting ro o ms a n d cat e ring events, se a s on a l d uties (snow removal), a n d miscella n eous duti e s.

Custodian Le a ds p erf o r m t h e duties as a lead work e r by facilitating work p e rformed
b y Custodians a nd temp o r ary staff. As lead worker, plan, schedule and a s sign t a sks to a c l eani n g crew performi n g flo o r mo p pin g , scru b bing and vacu u ming; strip,
wash a n d p olish floors, fixtures
and f u rniture; move and a r range fur n iture and equi p ment for special e v ents; check buildings for safety and security compliance to safe g uard co n tents and prevent vandalis m . Check work, assist with training
a n d instruction on t he proper cle a ning methods and safe o peration of all equipment.
R e move faulty equipment f r om service, a nd make arr a ngemen t s for rep a ir, or d er supplies, and pe r form assign e d c u stodial
t a sks.

Ho u r s of work will vary a nd c a n incl u de 1st, 2nd a n d 3 r d shifts with rotating sched u les, weekends
and h o li d ays.

J o b Knowledg e , Skills and Abilit i es:
The C u stodian p o si t i ons must be able to repe a tedly push, pull, reach, ben d , twist, sto o p, climb ladd e rs, and m u st be able to retain and carry out multiple
work assig n ments. Must be able to op e rate cleani n g equipment such as industrial vacuum cle a ners a nd c a rp e t extractors, a n d electric floor buf f ers, and h ave the abili t y to u s e cle a ning chemicals p r o p erly, a nd able to lift a mini m um of 50 p ounds. These positi o ns will inv o lve sta n ding and walking for up to 8 hours.

The C u stodian L e ad positions may require the knowle d ge of prop e r clea n ing me thods and procedures, clean i ng c h emicals, their p r o p er u s e, a n d s a fety p r ecautions; operating proce d ures and safe t y precauti o ns for pow e r e q uipm e nt us e d in f l oor c a re (i . e. rotary floor scrubbers, automatic
floor scrubbers, w a ter vacuums,
and vac u um cleaners); prop e r t e chniques to be u s ed for training new employ e es, i.e., Job Instr u ction Traini n g (JIT).; p oli c i e s and pr o c ed u res for maintai n ing time/atte n dance r e cords; p r ovisio n s of g eneral e m ployment-r e l ated
rules (i.e., wages, hours worked, premium
pay, use of sick leav e , vacati o n); provisio n s o f the FMLA (Family
M e dical L e ave A c t); procedures f o r a c cident
rep o r t ing, ha n dling disciplinary ac tions, etc.; a nd electronic

m a il a nd word proc e s sing software programs. Ability to eva l uate performance of subordinates; co u nsel and a s sist them in improving job k n owled g e and skills; a n d lead a group of e mployees.
