The Custodian is responsible for the cleaning of Kenaitze Indian Tribe's Tyotkas Elders Center. Duties include vacuuming, floor care, washing windows, dusting and emptying trash. This also includes washing tables, cleaning restrooms and maintaining inventory and cleaning supplies.

(Consideration may be given for equivalent knowledge, skills, abilities, education, and experience)

Minimum Qualifications

High School Diploma or General Education Degree (GED)
Current First Aid CPR Certification, or within 90 days of hire
Basic computer skills
Availability to work occasional nights and weekends
Ability to life 30 pounds
Ability to walk, stand, kneel, stoop, bend, sit, and reach with arms for long periods of time

Preferred Qualifications

Previous Custodian experience
Valid Alaska Drivers License with non-SR22 insurance
Knowledge and experience working with Alaska Native/American Indian people


Daily Tasks:

Empty all trash cans and replace liners
Thoroughly clean all bathroom sinks, toilets, mirrors and floors
Replenish paper products, refill soap dispensers in bathrooms
Clean tables and chairs in dining room
Vacuum all carpets in center
Ensure doors and windows are locked when finished; security of the buildings is a priority

Weekly Tasks:

Spot clean carpets if needed
Wipe window sills
Scrub out trash cans as needed
Order cleaning supplies (through the cook)
Pick up trash outside of center

Other Tasks:

Wash windows and casings monthly
Help Plant flower beds in spring
Dust all logs monthly
Wash logs annually
Dust and clean fixtures, fan blades and blinds
Respect Tribal equipment to include vehicles
Treats elders with respect and courtesy
Maintains confidentiality in accordance with KIT Policy
Other duties as assigned
