Under limited or indirect supervision provide custodial services for the University. Clean, sanitize, and maintain work, learning, research, and public spaces in and around campus facilities using established practices and procedures. Lock and unlock assigned buildings and areas. Respond to tenant needs and requests. In addition, one or more of the following will be an essential function of this position: drive and maintain a University owned vehicle, work a non-traditional schedule, typically weekends, perform cleaning procedures or techniques which require specialized training.
High School Diploma/GED.
Six months of institutional custodial experience with a good attendance record.
Ability to read, write, and speak English in order to effectively communicate and understand others.
Possess basic math skills and good work organization.
Willing and able to learn the use of heavy floor equipment.
Ability to work well with others.
Will be enrolled in Building Services Custodial Development Program within 90 days of hire.
Personal protective equipment will be required during specific work duties as determined by the department.
Ability to lift and carry 25 to 50 lbs. frequently, and up to 60 lbs. occasionally.
Work outdoors 10% of the time in temperatures below 32 degrees and above 90 degrees.
Valid driver’s license.
One year of custodial experience preferred.
Hours for this position are 5:00 a.m. to 1:30 p.m.; Tuesday through Friday and 6:00 a.m. to 2:30 p.m.; Saturday.
Some overtime may be required on an as needed basis.
A background check will be required for employment in this position.
FLSA: Non-Exempt (Eligible For Overtime).
Retirement Eligibility: PERF Contributions Immediately.
