CIS Support Specialists (3 positions)

Provides user support through research, analysis, coordination and processing of standard to advanced and/or specialized Customer Business Systems processes. Customer Business Systems refers to Automated Meter Read (AMR) systems, the Customer Information System (CIS) and other customer-related systems and processes.
Works with Information Technology Solutions (ITS) in the development and implementation of modifications, enhancements and upgrades to Customer Business Systems.
Ensures operational standards are met, data interfaces are effective and data integrity is consistently maintained.
Assists in the development and implementation of training programs to ensure effective use of systems and related processes. Ensures that system specifications and interfaces are documented, maintained and operating as designed.
Comprehensive understanding of customer business processes; identifying areas for improvement, developing recommendations and plans for implementation.
Gathers, verifies, and analyzes customer and related data to satisfy data requests from both inside and outside the organization.
Ensures that the CIS produces timely and accurate bills.
Works with internal customers and external bill print vendor on all aspects of the bill print process, including: bill messaging, letter processing, design, logistics (mailing), invoicing, and bill inserts.
Enters, validates, analyzes and maintains billing rates in the CIS.
Researches and investigates Customer Business System anomalies, problem solves, tests, documents, implements & communicates solutions, and follows up on issues; working independently from and directly with ITS and other internal/external users.
Works in cross functional groups on special projects, and performs day-to-day operational tasks.
An associate’s degree or at least two years toward a bachelor’s degree is required, along with coursework in the areas of accounting, business, electrical or another related field.
This position requires over two years of related work experience.
Proficiency in Microsoft Word / Excel and strong analytical skills are required.
Proficiency in database query tools is desirable.
Must employ strong communication skills to establish and maintain working relationships.
The ideal candidate for this position will possess the ability to multitask and be process-oriented. This individual will also be timely, technically savvy, a team player, able to work independently with limited direction, productive in a fast-paced work environment, adaptive to changing work projects and priorities, highly analytical and customer service oriented.
This position may be subject to assessment of skills, job match and/or aptitude.
Experience on cross-functional project teams desirable.

Reporting Location & Job Specific Duties:
This posting is for 3 unique CIS Support Specialists. Applicants may apply for 1, 2 or all 3 positions. All 3 are full-time, regular positions that will ultimately reside in the CIS Admin area following completion of the CIS Replacement project. Herbert Service Center – Duluth, MN
o General duties: This position will focus on both CIS and AMR system support, including customer service/billing support through research, analysis, coordination and processing of data utilizing AMR system software (Command Center) and the CIS
General Office Building – Duluth, MN
o General duties: This position will focus on CIS support, including rate maintenance, Sarbanes-Oxley (SOX) compliance, CIS accounting, customer account maintenance, CIS reporting and CIS testing.
CIS Replacement Project Work Site - Duluth, MN (Initially, the reporting location for this position will be in downtown Duluth at the Technology Village with the dedicated CIS Replacement Project Team. )
o General duties: This position will be an integral member of the CIS Replacement project team working on all aspects of the project: system requirements, design, testing, and post-implementation support. Customer Service, Regulatory, Rates, Metering and Operations, including water and gas functionality will all be areas of focus. Previous water and gas experience is not required for this position. After implementation, this position will reside in CIS Admin and remain a Minnesota Power employee.
