SALARY : This position is in pay schedule/range 15-03. Starting salary is between $45,990 and $75,884 per year, depending upon qualifications, plus excellent benefits . A six-month probationary period will be required.

JOB DUTIES : Microscopic screening of gyn and non-gyn slide preparations for the detection of precancerous and cancerous conditions. The incumbent must have knowledge of the field of cytotechnology and be able to perform cytopreparatory procedures. Must be ASCP registered Cytotechnologist. Must pass annual proficiency test event with a score of at least 90%. This position is under the general supervision of a Cytotechnologist Supervisor .

KNOWLEDGE REQUIRED : Considerable knowledge of the principles of cytology as applied to the analysis of specimens submitted for early detection of malignancy; considerable knowledge of modern laboratory principles, techniques, and procedures used in the cytology department; skill in the performance of cytologic tests, specimen analysis, and assigned research; ability to apply laboratory principles and clinical analysis leading to the diagnosis of disease as it applies to cytology; ability to perform laboratory work independently and relieve physicians of routine work leading to the interpretation of laboratory findings; effective communication skills; effective problem solving skills; effective team skills; exceptional customer service skills; effective interpersonal skills; computer knowledge and ability to learn new computer skills; ability to learn and perform technical advances in cytology and related fields as they develop .
