Sr ETL Developer/DBA

Overview:
Under general direction, designs, implements and maintains complex databases with respect to JCL, access methods, access time, device allocation, validation checks, organization, protection and security, documentation, guidelines and statistical methods.

Includes maintenance of database dictionaries, overall monitoring of standards and procedures and integration of systems through Database design. Proficient on multiple database platforms. Provides guidance/training for less experienced Database Analysts. Competent to work at the highest level of all phases of Database management.

The BI Administrator will be responsible for performing front-line support for all SQL Server Analysis, Reporting and Integration Services in a complex, growing, multi-TB enterprise environment. Should perform backup/recovery strategies; performance tuning; problem resolution; and developer assistance required of SQL Server environments. Candidates for this position should have a thorough understanding of database and BI concepts and technologies and experience in database design, cube design, clustering, SSIS, SSAS, performance tuning, etc.

Key Accountability:
  • Proficient on multiple database platforms
  • Designs, implements and maintains complex databases with respect to JCL
that achieve the objective; are well designed, efficient and conform to

standards

  • Designs, implements and maintains databases with regard to access
methods, access time, device allocation, validation checks, organization,

protection and security, documentation, guidelines and statistical methods

  • Maintains database dictionaries
  • Provides overall monitoring of standards and procedures and integration of
systems through Database design

  • Provides guidance/training for less experienced Database analysts
  • Delivers assignments by established deadlines
  • Keeps management well-informed on a timely basis of progress, status
and/or concerns for each assignment

  • Able to act as lead Database Analyst on projects
  • Participates in the ‘on-call’ rotation
  • Able to act as Supervisor in his/her absence
Skills Summary:
  • Bachelors Degree preferred and 5-7 years of related experience or an
equivalent combination of education and experience

  • 5-8 years experience with one or more of the following Databases; Datacom,
Oracle, and/or Access and multi-platform operating systems, OS/DOS, UNIX

  • Good analytical and problem solving skills
  • Excellent debugging skills relating to database performance and errors on
multi-platforms

  • Ability to work under deadlines and heavy workloads
  • 7+ years of expert level SQL Server DBA/BI experience with SQL Server
2005+; experience with SQL 2012 preferred

  • Expert ETL experience using SSIS
  • OLAP cube design and development
  • Advanced understanding of SQL Server Technologies
  • Integration Services (SSIS)
  • Analysis Services (SSAS)
  • Reporting Services (SSRS)
  • Microsoft certifications preferred
  • RDBMS skills. Including modeling existing system processes and data flows
  • Cube processing and query optimization, as well as cube synchronization
across multiple servers and reporting services

  • SSIS package design, optimization, troubleshooting and deployment
  • Powershell scripting
  • Expert in building cube and ETL processes within data warehouse design
  • Experience performing backup/recovery, disaster recovery, performance
tuning

  • Responsible for designing and configuring entire enterprise BI architecture
while ensuring scalability

  • Architecting entire database systems from scratch as well as being
responsible for maintenance and implementation

  • Research and design data warehouse plans and strategies
  • Perform Administrative tasks on SQL Server to ensure performance (tuning,
configuration, troubleshooting, etc)

  • Design and implement reporting solutions
  • Experience utilizing SQL Sentry preferred
  • Write and maintain batch jobs and automate day-to-day tasks
  • Must be available for rotating on-call support
  • Proven written and verbal skills
  • Ability to work autonomously or part of a group
  • Train and support team members and development teams
