Minimum Education and Experience:
Licensed to practice as a Dental Hygienist in the State of North Carolina.

Essential Skills, Knowledge and Abilities:
This position is being recruited at the Journey Competency Level under the Career Banding program. This position is part-time, .75 FTE/30 hours per week. The prorated hiring range for this position is $35,006-$37,598 and the salary grade equivalent is 70. ****************************************************************************************************
POSITION DESCRIPTION: This position will provide recall maintenance, including plaque evaluation, evaluation of oral hygiene status, providing oral hygiene instructions, application of topical fluoride or similar agents, application of pit and fissure sealants, examining oral soft tissue, periodontium and teeth, and screening for caries activity. Job duties include intra and extra oral examination, periodontal probing, removal of calcareous deposits and stains from teeth and beneath gum margin using dental hygiene instruments and polishing teeth. Use of advanced instrumentation and localized chemotherapy agents are often indicated.
ESSENTIAL SKILLS: , Knowledge in methods for dental caries prevention, basic computer skills and willingness to work with electronic patient records and ability to work well independently and with others in a fast-paced environment. The selected candidate must possess good interpersonal skills, have strong organization skills and must be punctual.

Preferred Qualifications:
The ideal candidate will have a minimum of 3 years of dental hygiene experience, experience with periodontal maintenance and treatment of medically compromised patients and advanced knowledge and interest in non-surgical treatment of periodontal diseases and conditions. Preference will be given to all individuals who provide 2 work-related references. Graduation from an accredited four year university is preferred as is experience working in a periodontal practice.

Special Physical/Mental Requirements:
The schedule will be Monday-Thursday, 8-4:30 p.m. with some flexibility.
