The Director of Development is responsible for the leadership of all fund-raising programs for the College of Medicine. He or she is responsible for building broad-based private support for all aspects of the College of Medicine through the building and management of a comprehensive program. The primary focus will be establishing major and leadership gifts as well as coordinating fund-raising efforts with annual giving, corporate and foundation, planned giving, gift processing, and other fund-raising support operations such as donor relations and stewardship. Further responsibilities will include the successful completion and follow-up for the current capital campaign.
At least 5 years of successful major and leadership gift experience, previous experience in healthcare or an academic setting is desirable
Strong leadership skills and a proven ability to meet goals and objectives with a proven track record in developing successful strategies to engage new markets, focusing on establishing new relationships with potential donors
Creativity and an innovative approach to develop programs that will support a newly established College of Medicine
A track record as a builder of programs and a manager of change is highly desirable
Extraordinary communication skills and be an open, achievement-oriented and confident professional
A collegial, team-building style with a proven ability to motivate donors and volunteers
Ability to demonstrate a high level of integrity and trust, and must be a visionary, self-starter with a sense of urgency and a clear set of priorities
Experience in an academic or healthcare philanthropy is desirable
