Western Kentucky University (WKU) is seeking to hire two (2) individuals to serve as Assistant- Associate Professors in the Doctor of Physical Therapy Program. The positions are nine-month, tenure track appointments to begin in Fall 2014, with additional summer teaching appointments available.
Primary responsibilities will be to teach in the new entry-level Doctor of Physical Therapy (DPT) program. The DPT Program received candidacy status from CAPTE in April 2013 and started the inaugural class in June 2013. The DPT program is housed in the new Medical Center WKU Health
Sciences Complex, a 73,000 square foot state of the art facility with over 12,000 square feet dedicated exclusively to the DPT Program.
A doctorate in Physical Therapy or an earned doctorate in a related discipline (applicants with ABD status will also be considered). The candidate must be eligible for licensure by the Kentucky Board of Physical Therapy. A minimum of three years of clinical experience as a licensed physical therapist is also
These positions require the ability to teach in one or more of the following areas: neurosciences, neurological assessment and rehab, pediatrics, cardiopulmonary rehabilitation, gross anatomy, pathology, therapeutic modalities, pharmacology, patient examination and care skills, women’s health, wound care, diagnostic imaging, and prosthetics/orthotics. These positions also require the ability to mentor students, conduct and publish research, serve on University, professional, and community committees, and work well with faculty within the Program, College, and University.
