The Targeted Reading Intervention ( TRI ) is an early reading intervention research project housed at the Frank Porter Graham Child Development Institute at UNC – Chapel Hill. This project is implemented in rural elementary schools in Hertford, Person, Warren, and Wayne Counties, all within a 150-mile radius of UNC -Chapel Hill. Kindergarten, first grade, and second grade teachers and their students are the focus of this work.
The TRI is recruiting part-time assessors to facilitate data collection by administering reading measures via computer to students, as well as assist with other research-related tasks including obtaining parent permission. The measures include screening tools and standardized diagnostic measures.
Education and Experience
• Minimum bachelor’s degree (degree in Social Science preferred)
• Experience administering assessments preferred
• Some level of experience interacting with young children
• A combination of education and experience will be considered
• Ability to follow standardized procedures
• Valid driver’s license required
• Dependable vehicle preferred
• Willingness to drive to schools and arrive at the start of the school day (occasional overnight stay may be required); mileage reimbursement and hotel expenses are paid by the project.
• Flexibility in schedule to commit to a minimum of 2 full days per week. Preference given to those with more availability.
• Availability that spans February to mid-June
• Availability for training sessions late February
