Our Reporting Team develops base-product reporting solutions that get used and enhanced by large-scale customers. You have the chance to influence the strategic and technical direction of Guidewire’s reporting offering by applying your experience solving challenging, complex problems in data modeling, transformation, performance and other areas of reporting.
The DW/BI Engineer works closely with the DW/BI development team in the design of new data warehouse components and data marts, complex ETL loading procedures, and providing documentation (data mapping, functional specifications, data dictionaries, test cases, client support, etc.) for all projects. Additionally, this person is expected to ensure proper technical documentation, enhance processes for ETL design, source code control, unit testing and defect management. Guidewire takes testing quite seriously. As such DW/BI Engineers are expected to participate in developing major test scenarios and detailed test cases to confirm report format, expected data results, and proper functioning of backend DW processes (ETL, send/receive, etc.).
Extensive engineering experience in designing and delivering a variety of complex, large-volume data management and business intelligence systems, especially in the financial and insurance industries.
Solid experience with DW/BI including design, development, testing of ETL and DW infrastructure solutions.
Experience building either Kimball or Inmon style data warehouses.
Track record of strong individual contribution in developing data warehouse solutions, including ETL and Cognos-based reports.
Advanced database programming skills: SQL, PL/SQL, T-SQL, OLAP, logical and physical data modeling.
Experience with building performance and testing infrastructure in environment with large volume data sets using Oracle AWR and SQL Server DMV.
Strong verbal and written communication skills with ability to communicate complex technical concepts.
Experience developing enterprise BI or DW packaged software is a plus.
Proficiency in Cognos is preferable. Experience with comparable reporting tools, such as Business Objects, Hyperion, Microstrategy or SAS, is sufficient.
Proficiency in one or more of major data modeling tools such as Erwin, Data Architect, Oracle Designer, including administration.
5+ years of software engineering experience.
