Job Description:

This position requires a deep technical and functional understanding of the applications and data structures involved with core financial and related applications in banking and how to support them. The role is responsible for providing the technical direction, support and maintenance to the all SQL databases, Oracle databases and enterprise data; including maintenance of the technical relationships with vendors to ensure that our clients data and systems are architected, configured, operating and performing for the present and the future.

General Responsibilities •

Detection, identification, resolution and documentation of application database level incidents •
Responsible for developing, implementing, and overseeing database policies and procedures to ensure the integrity and availability of databases and their accompanying software •
Monitor and review all database operation and provide transaction level troubleshooting, issues resolution and associated communication •
Collaborate with developers, vendors and BA’s to establish the technical vision and analyze trade-offs between usability, performance needs and cost •
Lead or assist with development of and delivery to defined and measured SLA’s/SLO’s •
Other task as directed from time to time by management, including but not limited to DR and technical Projects •
Successfully engage in multiple initiatives simultaneously •
Lead or direct other resources as required by management to meet the needs of the department areas of responsibility •
Input to and drive improvements in the data architecture for existing and future systems •
Ensure all database architectures are documented and changes maintained in the appropriate toils and libraries including identifying systems of record and information flows between systems •
Primary responsibility for level 1, 2, and 3 support of Windows including 24×7 on call support, with a capability to cross train other team members •
Apply your acumen for technology to the responsibility for installation, proactive monitoring, maintenance and administration of installed application databases and interfaces to optimize performance and ensure stability •
Troubleshooting liaising closely with in-house infrastructure & applications teams and Vendors •
Work collaboratively with others to develop database architectures, coding standards, and quality assurance policies and procedures •
Design and Implement systems, policies, and procedures for disaster recovery and data archiving to ensure effective protection and integrity of data assets •
Install and configure relevant network components to ensure database access as well as database consistency and integrity •
Respond to and resolve database access and performance issues •
Monitor database system details within the database, including stored procedures and execution time, and implement efficiency improvements •
Monitor, optimize and allocate physical data storage for database systems •
Develop, implement, and maintain change control and testing processes for modifications to databases •
Data analysis, management, identification, maintenance and extract in support of business Information reporting, investigations and implementation of data interfaces •
Create, or support creation of, required reports and data extracts in response to business user needs using bundled and 3rd party toots •
Lead or assist with deployment and configuration of new application databases and interfaces as required •
Perform database transaction and security reviews •
Develop data warehouses and data marts using star and snowflake models or new methods as they evolve •
Following existing and establishing future process related to database management including change management, configuration management, deployment management, release management, patch development

Education/ Other Requirements •

University degree In Computer Science or related discipline plus a minimum of 7 years relevant work experience in progressively senior roles of which 3+ years should be as a senior database administrator in a SQL environment, preferably in a banking context. •

Experience •

Strong working knowledge and understanding of database structures, theories, principles, and practices •
7+ years demonstrable technical working experience designing, building, installing, configuring and supporting database servers, Oracle and MS•SQL Server, data warehouses, datamarts •
Excellent proficiency in SQL scripting and other data extract utilities •
Experienced with star and snowflake schemas •
Hands-on database tuning and troubleshooting experience •
Demonstrable experience in report building using SSRS, Hyperion or similar tools •
Knowledge of data protection and recovery practices including backup and recovery toots and techniques, synchronization, BCP •
Demonstrated proficiency in diagnostic trouble shooting techniques •
Experience of working independently and autonomously on routine and complex assignments •
Excellent verbal and written communication skills and the ability to interact professionally with a diverse groups, executives, managers, and subject matter experts •
Evidence of management presentations and report writing skills •
Detailed technical support knowledge and methodologies and suite of banking applications is a benefit •

Physical Demands and Work Environment:

While performing the essential duties of this position, an employee would frequently be required to stand, walk, and sit. An employee must frequently life and/or move up to 10 pounds and may occasionally lift and/or move up to 25 pounds to perform essential position functions.
Specific vision abilities required by this position include close vision, distance vision, and the ability to adjust focus. The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate.

Attendance Requirements:

Regular attendance is an essential function of this position. This means that the employee is required to report to work on time and must remain available to clients during scheduled hours.

This position requires face-to-face interaction in person or by telephone and e-mail with customers, clients, and vendors.
