Berkshire Hathaway Homestate Companies (BHHC) Workers Compensation Specialty Division is a specialty insurance company operating nationwide. BHHC has a development program, with the goal of replacing two legacy policy processing systems – one vendor system, one built inhouse in Delphi and SQL - with a single new .NET/Delphi/WCF/SQL application. The team and the majority of the users and BHHC executives are located in the San Francisco financial district.
BHHC has 1 senior level SQL DBA position open. This is a permanent or contract-to-hire position. SQL DBAs in this role will be responsible for daily administration tasks and for designing and creating SQL objects MS-SQL databases, working closely with Business Analysts, DBA and QA staff. The development methodology is iterative, the timeline is very aggressive, and the project is strongly supported and fully funded by the business.
10+ years of experience in Database Administration including Installing, configuring, managing and monitoring SQLServer databases
10+ years of experience in Microsoft SQL Server (5 + years in 2005 and 2+ years in 2008, 2008 R2) developing complex transact queries including stored procedures, functions, triggers and views
7+ years of experience in SSIS developing complex ETL processes
5+ years of experience in SSRS
Strong knowledge of backups, restores, recovery models, database shrink operations, DBCC commands, Replication and Security
Experience in troubleshooting and resolving database integrity issues, performance issues, blocking and deadlocking issues, replication issues, connectivity and security issues
Expertise in Database logical and physical modeling including normalization, identifying/non-identifying relations, data types and referential integrity
Experience in improving data integration process through performance tuning techniques
Ability to work quickly in a small-team iterative development environment
Clear verbal and written communication
Demonstrated ability to write clear specifications for complex processes
Effective interpersonal skills collaborating with business partners and technical team members•
Experience participating in code review and acceptance process to improve code quality
Responsive to the input and direction of team members

Experience in using Database modeling tools (Visio)
Working knowledge of Visual Studio 2010 (creating and working with EDMX is a plus)

Experience in code review and acceptance process in order to improve code quality and delivery
Strong documentation skills to facilitate support of ongoing operational responsibilities
Strong emphasis on unit testing and delivering defect-free code to QA
Skill in building clean, reusable SQL code
