Hanger is seeking a motivated, dynamic Entry-level Database Administrator to be part of the DBA team, interfacing with multiple IT Sectors including Application Development teams to maintain a stable environment, and assist in troubleshooting issues as they arise. Position also provides on-going production system support and performs other duties, as assigned.
Maintains and monitors all corporate database environments.
Builds and configures test database environments. Creates databases and database objects. Deploys database objects, reports, SSIS packages from test to production.
Corrects existing flaws by modifying existing database objects or directing SQL Developers to make changes.
Responsible for applying and testing new versions and service packs in test environment. Assists with developing and enforcing database standards.
Responsible for administering security best practices at the server and database levels.
Assists in troubleshooting application problems where database management is an integral element. Perform code promotion between environments, while ensuring the integrity of the code base and the separate environments.
Tests and corrects errors, and refines changes to databases as required.
Ensure critical processes and data feeds have completed on a daily basis.
Provides technical support and basic training in the proper use of production databases to database users.
Provide ongoing research and development activities to investigate new technologies and tools which might be used by company personnel to more effectively and efficiently perform their jobs.
On-call / after hour flexibility for support and maintenance.
Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, related major or equivalent working experience
MCDBA, MCTS, or MCITP a plus
1-3 years of experience in SQL database design and production maintenance and support.
Thorough understanding of SQL Server and the Windows operating systems as it relates to database administration.
Attention to detail
Possesses understanding of the application deployment process and correlation with database administration responsibilities.
Knowledge of SQL Server 2005/2008.
Familiarity with SQL Server Profiler and Windows Performance Monitor
Thorough understanding of SQL Jobs, SSIS package design and deployment, and SSRS report deployment.
Experience with backup/restore, code deployment, performance monitoring and tuning
Proficient with SQL Server client and administrative tools
Proficient in writing, maintaining and optimizing complex T-SQL
Experience with SQL Server database security administration.
