Job Description

Summary of Position Responsibilities:
Troubleshoot; ensure database availability and stability; performance tuning and optimization; participate in application development deployments; and assists in development lifecycle

Primary Responsibilities:
Manages and maintains data in all production and non-production Oracle databases and the associated DR and replication servers
Manages the maintenance of DB environments including backups, healthchecks, applying fixpacks, monitoring, capacity management, and upgrading
Participates in disaster recovery exercises
Performs performance tuning by analyzing database and OS performance and implementing tuning and optimization recommendations
Manages the upgrades and installs of DBMS, replication software
Manages the design and distribution, performance, replication, security, availability including High availability solutions and access requirements for large complex databases
Designs and develops physical layers of various databases making use of advanced features such as partitioning
Handles testing, reporting, back-up and restores
On-Call coverage required

Required Experience:
3+ years of experience in database and database internals
Experience in Oracle versions 11, Data Guard, Streams, SharePlex, high availability solutions, Working knowledge of technologies impacting database solutions including storage and replication
Support for peoplesoft applications
Experience in supporting a large portfolio, performance tuning
3+ years of experience in Operating systems Unix – AIX, Solaris and Linux and Windows
3+ years knowledge of Scripting in Perl and shell(C/Korn), Windows scripting, Powershell

Preferred Experience:
Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, information Systems or related field, or 3-5 yrs work experience
DBMS Certification
Experience in Mongo and Informix databases
Excellent oral and written communication skills with the ability to communicate technical concepts
Travel: 5%
